Food prices in the U.S. this year are expected to increase between 3-4%, according to estimates from both the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the nation’s largest farm group.
American and EU officials say they have signed an agreement that will allow products certified as organic in Europe or the U.S. to be sold as organic in both regions.
Food prices are likely to become more volatile in coming years, increasing the risk that more poor people in import-dependent countries will go hungry, the United Nations said in an annual report on food insecurity.
