  • SIAL 2004 promises a “multi-specialist” event with 15 product categories featured in four halls, with three halls devoted to national pavilions and regions of the world, as well as an area dedicated to exploring the local favorites found in France.   • TIC Gums (Belcamp, Md.) named Scott Riefler president. Former president Steven Andon will assume the role of chief executive officer.

  • Chr. Hansen A/S (Horsholm, Denmark) and Urex Biotech Inc. (London, Ontario) have entered into a strategic alliance to market therapeutic solutions for women and specific female health issues. Chr. Hansen also announced a $10 million expansion of two of its facilities in Wisconsin, allowing it to expand production of cultures for the dairy industry and continue export growth.

  • Danisco (Copenhagen, Denmark) has completed its acquisition of Rhodia Food Ingredients (Boulogne-Billancourt Cedex, France).

  • Product Dynamics, a division of RQA Inc. (Darien, Ill.), announced a major expansion of its Orland Park, Ill., facility, increasing the size from its current 6,000 sq. ft. to 38,000 sq. ft.

  • Mastertaste (Rosemont, Ill.), a Kerry Group company, acquired four flavor companies: J. Manheimer Inc. (Teterboro, N.J.); Flavurence (Los Angeles); Laboratorios Krauss (Mexico City); and Fructamine (Bergamo, Italy).

    Land O'Lakes (Minneapolis) named Julie Tiatia national sales manager, ingredient solutions; Dacia Jones, sales manager, ingredient solutions; and Dewey Wahlin, director of sales and marketing, ingredient solutions.

    Quality Assurance International Inc. (San Diego) named Kristen L. Reimink, president; David Abney, director of certification services; and John Foster, director of technical services.

    Sara O'Brien joined Domino Specialty Ingredients (Baltimore) as sales coordinator, specialty ingredients.

    Tate & Lyle PLC (London) announced a $30 million expansion of its sucralose plant in McIntosh, Ala.

    Bunge North America (St. Louis) created a food oils sales organization, naming Gary Chenoweth vice president, food processor sales; Doug Sparks vice president foodservice sales and marketing; and John Jansen vice president, product and sales support.

    Frutarom Industries (Tel Aviv) plans to purchase International Flavors & Fragrances Inc.'s (IFF) fruit preparations businesses in Switzerland and Germany. Frutarom also named William J. Ludlum president of Frutarom USA; William L. Graham, vice president and general manager of the company's flavor division in North America; Michael Conti, vice president and Natural Products Business manager; and Michael Faber, business manager of Pharma/Nutra.
