Bunge’s PhytoBake is a trans-free, reduced saturated fat shortening that helps finished foods retain moisture and stay fresh

PhytoBake is a trans-free, reduced saturated fat shortening that—in certain applications—can extend the freshness of finished food products through better moisture retention.

PhytoBake retains moisture by incorporating plant-based phytosterols that have the additional benefit of blocking cholesterol from being absorbed into the bloodstream. Depending on the amount used in a finished application, PhytoBake may allow food manufacturers to make an FDA approved heart-health claim on their package based on phytosterol content. For these reasons, PhytoBake was given the 2010 Institute of Food Technologists Innovation Award and can be found in finished food products across America today.
