August 26/Chicago/Press Release -- Nellson Nutraceutical LLC has been acquired by Kohlberg & Company LLC. The transaction closed on August 26, 2013.
 
This deal represents another successful transaction for Houlihan Lokey in the Food & Beverage industry.

Nellson, headquartered in Irwindale, Calif., is a provider of nutraceutical branded and private-label bar and functional powder products in North America. Nellson designs and manufactures highly nutritious, fortified products that meet consumer demand for superior flavor, texture, convenience and appetite appeal. Nellson partners with consumer packaged goods companies and retailers across the wellness, sports nutrition, weight control, athletic/energy, and medical nutrition end-markets.

Kohlberg is a U.S. private equity firm headquartered in Mount Kisco, N.Y. Since its inception in 1987, Kohlberg has completed 60 platform investments and more than 100 add-on acquisitions, with an aggregate transaction value of approximately $9 billion.
