Pumpkin Salsa is the newest creation from award-winning Renfro Foods in Fort Worth, Texas. Launched at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York, June 26-28, the company's nineteenth salsa evokes a spice mix of pumpkin pie, with a heat level registering at the medium level.

"We've been playing with the concept of a holiday themed item for several years," says Renfro Foods President Doug Renfro. "Then a customer specifically asked us about doing a pumpkin salsa, so we knew it was time."

"The reception to our new pumpkin salsa was awesome!" Renfro continues. "It was fun watching people nervously dip into it, wondering what pumpkin salsa might taste like, then exclaim 'that's good!' Our favorite two quotes were 'it tastes like the holidays' and 'it's Thanksgiving on a chip!'"

Mrs. Renfro’s salsas, while excellent as dips, has found a niche market as a cooking ingredient. More consumers are using Mrs. Renfro's salsa in recipes as a meal extender. Each jar of salsa comes with a recipe on the label, encouraging consumers to cook with it.

"When we believe a new product concept has enough legs to be an everyday item in a grocery store, we develop a version that can support our retail price but also tastes delicious," Renfro adds.

Packaged in 16-ounce jars, Mrs. Renfro's Pumpkin Salsa will retail at $3.69.
