AIDP Expands Research & Development Department

Company makes key promotions and new hires to strengthen commitment to delivering high-quality, scientifically supported products

AIDP, Inc. announced key upgrades to its R&D department. Dr. Jennifer Gu, who has led the department for 20 years has been promoted to Senior VP of Research & Development. With this promotion, the company announced the addition of Dr. Mike Weiser as VP of R&D and Dr. Rafea Naffa as Scientific Advisor, to the department. The company is excited to welcome these new experts to its R&D team, bringing diverse experience and insights to enhance research capabilities. Their combined knowledge strengthens a commitment to delivering high-quality, scientifically supported products.

Dr. Mike Weiser has spent his career dedicated to research and innovation in the nutraceutical ingredient and functional consumer packaged goods industries. Following his B.S. in Chemistry, Dr. Weiser began his career in the pharma industry as a medicinal chemist working on novel drug development. He then went on to pursue his Ph.D. in Biomedical Science with a focus on neurobiology and neuroendocrinology, followed by a post-doctorate in stress neurobiology and physiology. Dr. Weiser is an inventor on several patent applications and an author of over two dozen peer-reviewed scientific articles.

Dr. Rafea Naffa holds a PhD in biochemistry and has authored over 35 peer-reviewed publications, primarily focusing on collagen. With more than a decade of experience supporting the collagen industry, he has contributed to the development of innovative collagen products and peptides. He also serves as an editor and reviewer for various scientific journals. Dr. Naffa is a skilled project manager and scientist, with expertise in agilePM, Prince2, protein quality, mass spectrometry, and big data analysis.

The promotion of Dr. Gu and the addition of these esteemed associates exemplifies AIDP’s commitment to research and development. AIDP has a robust clinical research and regulatory pipeline to bring the most vetted ingredients to customers. The strategic growth in R&D reflects long-term vision for healthy longevity and wellness through research-driven product development, underscoring a mission to lead in the supplement and functional food & beverage markets. AIDP has been supplying functional ingredients for over 28 years. The branded research-based products now includes over 30 brands and the commodity portfolio consists of +300 products.
