Givaudan, the world’s leading flavors and fragrances company, unveiled the results of its latest research conducted in collaboration with University of California, Berkeley’s Product Development Program.

According to report produced by The Good Food Institute (GFI), 2019 and the first seven months of 2020 were record periods of investment in fermentation companies creating sustainable alternatives to conventional animal-based foods and ingredients. 

Now that plant-based alternatives for conventional meat products have entered the mainstream, there's a new wave to catch: the fast-growing market for plant-based seafood.

The nutritious plant-based meatballs are made from simple, plant-based ingredients with no GMOs, soy, gluten or synthetic ingredients and have 30% less saturated fat and sodium. 

Customers can feel good knowing they are eating a clean protein option full of flavor and made with non-GMO, soy-free ingredients. The OZO foodservice line is now available in four plant-based offerings: burgers, ground, nuggets and breakfast sausage patties, catering to all dayparts.

In the age of pepperoni shortages and a growing consumer trend towards flexitarianism (semi-vegetarianism), American Flatbread launched a line of plant-based, flash-frozen pizzas, Meatless Evolution.

Califia Farms, a plant-based food and beverage company, announced that Dave Ritterbush has been named chief executive officer. Greg Steltenpohl, plant-based pioneer and the company’s founder will retire as CEO and remain on the board as an executive director.

PLT Health Solutions, Inc. announced that Earthlight® Whole Food Vitamin D has received Novel Foods Approval in the EU, paving the way for this unique dietary ingredient to be used in food and beverages produced and sold in Europe.
