Freedonia Group estimates that US energy and sports drinks generate $33.6 billion in annual sales and fuel a market that’s projected to grow at an average rate of 6.4% annually through 2027. This segment was also reviewed by global product tracker Innova Market Insights. In a February 2024 report, Innova said one-third of US consumers purchased energy drinks in the past year, and nearly a quarter purchased sports drinks. In addition, more consumers have increased—rather than decreased—their consumption of these popular drinks.
