Copper Moon Coffee enriches its French Vanilla Cappuccino Insta-Kups with probiotics.

Copper Moon probiotic coffeeCopper Moon Coffee, Lafayette, Ind., may be the first coffee company to use probiotics in K-Cup® technology. The company’s new French Vanilla Cappuccino Insta-Kups feature Ganeden Biotech’s probiotic ingredient GanedenBC30 (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086).

“We’re very excited to introduce this innovation in functional hot beverages. This is the world’s first probiotic-enriched, French Vanilla Cappuccino for single-cup brewers” says Copper Moon CEO Brad Gutwein. “Consumers with a single-cup brewer will now be able to brew our new French Vanilla Cappuccino with the added digestive and immune support of GanedenBC30.”

Now available for purchase on the Copper Moon website, officials say the French Vanilla Cappuccino is fortified with vitamins and minerals as well as GanedenBC30 to support digestive and immune health.

According to the National Coffee Association’s National Coffee Drinking Trends market research study, the single- cup brewing format continues to grow. In 2013, it was reported that 83% of U.S. adults drink coffee; and 13% of the U.S population reported past day consumption; up from 4% in 2010. Meanwhile, Packaged Facts estimates that overall retail single-cup coffee sales in the U.S. will reach a projected $5.0 billion by 2016.

“The composition of GanedenBC30 allows food and beverage manufacturers the freedom to create innovative probiotic products that would otherwise be impossible,” adds Michael Bush, senior vice president of Ganeden Biotech. “Copper Moon’s French Vanilla Cappuccino is an innovation in single serve, coffee brewing. It is the first product utilizing K-Cup technology to contain a probiotic and we are excited that GanedenBC30 can be a part of such an exciting advancement within this booming industry.”

Ganeden Biotech says probiotic, GanedenBC30 is a patented, organism that can be found in more than 80 leading food, beverage and companion animal products throughout the world. Unlike other probiotic strains used in food and beverages, GanedenBC30 is highly stable and can remain viable through processing, shelf life and the low pH of stomach acid.
