HITTING THE SHELVES

Ready-to-Drink Coffee & Tea Products Launched in November 2021

This month's collection includes a functional cold brew and an indulgent iced coffee

REBBL Stacked Coffee
November 17, 2021

Prepared Foods profiles new retail ready-to-drink coffee and tea beverages.

Health Boost

REBBL, Emeryville, Calif., says new REBBL Stacked Coffee is an indulgent, plant-powered cold-brew with additional health benefits.

"We literally 'stacked' our best-tasting, fair trade coffee with premium function," says Bonnie Neulight, chief marketing and innovation officer. "Consumers will be left wondering how we stacked so many benefits into one phenomenal sensory experience."

Neulight says REBBL Stacked Coffee is formulated to deliver decadent taste with balanced energy, focus and immunity support. Combining caffeine with the calming energy of green tea's nootropic L-Theanine, Stacked Coffee delivers a smooth, balanced energy with sustained focus. Layered with oat milk, Reishi, Lion's Mane, and MCTs, Stacked Coffee also is clinically proven to support immunity.

The line debuts with four flavors: Cafe Mocha, Vanilla Latte, Hazelnut Latte, and Straight Black. All are certified organic, fair-trade, non-GMO, dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, vegan and made without cane sugar or artificial flavors.

Stacked Coffee comes in 100% recycled and recyclable plastic bottles. REBBL Stacked Coffee is available online at REBBL.co and Amazon, and in-store at Whole Foods Market nationally. Stacked Coffee 12oz bottles retail for SRP $3.99.

Saintly Sips

Saint James Tea Company Flavors

AriZona Iced Tea Co-Founder John M. Ferolito created the Saint James Tea Company, Miami, and planned a fall launch of four organic, ready-to-drink organic teas.

Flavors include Original Green, Pineapple & Mango, Passionfruit & Peach, and Blueberry & Raspberry. They’re packaged in 16.9oz Tetra Pak cartons and have a preservative-free shelf life of up to 24 months, officials say.

"In his lifetime, Father [James] Haggerty worked to improve the lives of those in his community, myself included," says Ferolito. "We sought to create something that honors his legacy, so we developed Saint James Tea to offer a healthy, great-tasting product that is beneficial for people and the planet."

Ferolito says the company will encourage consumers to give back. Through its #WhoIsYourSaintJames initiative, individuals will be empowered to recognize those who are helping better their communities.

Molecular Cold Brew

Atomo Molecular Cold Brew

Atomo Coffee Inc., Seattle, made its market debut on September 21 as the first molecular coffee company and a cold brew ready to drink coffee. Officials say Atomo—under development since the company’s 2019 start—looks and tastes just like conventional coffee. It comes with the same amount of caffeine but without any deforestation or severe carbon footprint associated with coffee.

The 8oz product comes in two initial flavors: Classic and Ultra Smooth. Officials say Classic roast presents a “well-rounded medium roast cup with hints of cocoa, dark fruit and a whisper of smoke.” They say the Ultra Smooth roast “entices black coffee non-believers with an indulgent wave of natural caramelization and low acidity.”

Atomo says it follows a patented process and harnesses upcycled ingredients. It likewise has analyzed and recreated the compounds of conventional coffee found within green coffee beans.

Atomo shared some early product samples with writers at Seattle’s GeekWire, a business technology media company. Geekwire shared the ingredient legend on the sides of can as:

“Brewed Atomo Coffee (water, extracts of date seed, chicory root, grape skin) inulin, natural flavors, caffeine.”

Functional Teas

mymuse Organic Immunity-Boosting Teas

Muse Organic LLC, Irvine, Calif., debuted this September with two lines of mymuse organic, immunity-boosting teas and flavored waters. Leading the company is serial beverage entrepreneur and brand architect, Lance Collins, known for Fuze Tea, NOS Energy, CORE Water, BodyArmor and ZenWTR brands.

"Today's buyers are looking for better-for-you options that support a mission larger than themselves," said Collins. "This is why we created mymuse. We want to meet the consumer demand for immunity-supporting options, without compromising taste or ingredients, as well as bring more positivity into the world where we can.”

Officials say mymuse is low sugar and low calorie with full flavor. Enhanced tea varieties include Lemon Black Tea, Lemon Honey Green Tea, Peach Black Tea, Raspberry Green Tea and Sweet Black Brewed Tea. Muse says all of its new offerings include including clinically proven amounts of zinc as well as elderberry and antioxidant vitamins A, C and E.

Muse says its mymuse organic bottles use 40-45% less plastic than leading competitors and are BPA free and 100% recyclable. Teas are available for purchase with free nationwide shipping on mymuseorganic.com as well as for $2.49 per bottle nationally at Sprouts Farmers Markets and across select retailers in New York with additional national retailers rolling out in 2022.

Coffee Meets Candy

International Delight REESE'S Iced Coffee

Danone North America, Broomfield, Colo., partnered with The Hershey Company on what officials said was the “ultimate coffee and confectionary collaboration.” Debuting this October was International Delight REESE’S Iced Coffee.

"REESE'S pairing of chocolate and peanut butter is iconic, and as the leader in iced coffee, we could not think of a better partner to bring a unique and decadent experience to fridges nationwide," said Rebecca Grad, brand manager, International Delight Iced Coffee. "This sweet and creamy mashup is going to take iced coffee and REESE'S lovers to tantalizing new levels."

International Delight REESE'S Iced Coffee is available in 64oz, ready-to-drink cartons for a suggested retail price of $3.99. Grad said the new offering will be a permanent addition to the International Delight iced coffees line.
