Growing Line
Califia Farms, Los Angeles, has been growing its product portfolio in several directions. It kicked off the year by launching a tea beverages line. A new multi-serve, ready-to-drink 48oz Matcha Almond Latte is made with real matcha green tea powder and Califia's almond milk. More recently, Califia Farms added a similar 48oz Chai Almond Latte with real black tea, Califia almond milk, and a touch of cinnamon and cane sugar for the perfect sweetness.
“Given the success of our Matcha Almond Latte, we’ve expanded our line of tea beverages with Chai Almond Latte based on the growing popularity of chai tea lattes and consumer demand for easy solutions for café favorites at home,” said Suzanne Ginestro, Califia’s chief marketing officer.
Separately, Califia extended its Simple & Organic line with an Organic Vanilla Almondmilk. Yet another new offering was a limited-edition 25.4oz Chocolate Strawberry Almond Creamer.
Organic Meets Artisan
Milkadamia, Burr Ridge, Ill., said its fans revealed that “organic” is the most important claim for consumers—with 92% of premium purchasers preferring organic plant-based milk and more than three-quarters of consumers willing to pay a premium for it. In response, the company introduced its Organic Artisan line, which sources macadamia nuts from organic farms.
Using only a few of the finest ingredients, the Organic Artisan Shelf-Stable line offers a home-crafted recipe that maintains the creamy, elevated taste and texture only macadamia nuts can provide. The Organic Artisan line is best served with or in coffee, smoothies, or culinary creations - always USDA Organic, plant-based, dairy-free, lactose-free, gluten-free, soy-free, cholesterol-free, and carrageenan-free, and contains no gums, fillers, added flavors, or oils.
The Organic Artisan Shelf-Stable is available at Whole Foods Market nationwide and on Amazon for $41.99/6-pack. milkadamia will soon be on ShareASale for all affiliate needs, too!
Clean, Fortified
This spring saw PLANTSTRONG Foods, Austin, Tex., bolster its broad, plant-based portfolio with a line of four milks including two favorites (Unsweetened Almond, Unsweetened Oat) and two “never-before-seen” blends: Oat & Almond and Oat & Walnut. All four are shelf stable and come in 32oz containers.
“Look at the ingredient labels of the most popular plant-based milks and you’ll see they are full of gums, oils, enzymes, emulsifiers, and refined sugar,” said PLANTSTRONG CEO and Founder Rip Esseltyn. “PLANTSTRONG provides a long overdue, clean-label option in the non-dairy milk category—one that is packed with nutrition and tastes great.”
Cleaner Creamers
This May saw Malt Organics LLC, Austin, Tex., extend its line with three new plant-based creamers: Vanilla Almond, Caramel Almond, and Lightly Sweetened Oat.
"Following our recent funding, distribution expansion, and successful launches of Shelf Stable and Cashew, we're excited to announce the latest addition to the MALK family—cleaner creamers," said MALK's CEO Jason Bronstad. "There aren't many clean creamer options out there for those looking for a rich, tasty supplement to their coffee, tea, or matcha. So we have made it our mission to change this by offering simple ingredient creamers that don't sacrifice delicious flavor."
MALK Creamers rolled out nationwide in Sprouts, in select Whole Foods, Erewhon, Fresh Thyme, and other retailers beginning mid-June. Suggested retail price is $7.99 for a 16oz bottle.
Pistachio Milk Latte
Táche, Brooklyn, N.Y., said it introduced the industry’s first ready-to-drink pistachio milk latte this spring.
“Smooth and creamy, the Táche Pistachio Milk Latte offers a well-balanced coffee and pistachio flavor that’s low in sugar and contains no added oils, making it a healthier alternative to oat milk lattes and a more sustainable option when compared to almond milk lattes,” the company says. “Having spent over two years working with specialty coffee roasters to create a RTD that delivers on flavor, quality, and consistency, Táche is thrilled to expand their portfolio and offer more pistachio products to consumers and integrate the nut into their daily lives.”
It will be available online at www.pistachiomilk.com and was scheduled to roll out in retail this year.
Cashew Creamers
Elmhurst Milked Direct, LLC (d.b.a. Elmhurst 1925), Elma, N.Y., introduce a line of dairy-free Cashew Creamers. Officials say they’re the first plant-based creamers to use cashew as a base, and come in four varieties: Sweet Cream, Cinnamon Churro, Caramel Brûlée and Unsweetened. Elmhurst’s Cashew Creamers are available online at Elmhurst1925.com at a SRP of $8.99 and will be available at Sprouts with more retailers to follow.
“So many creamers contain unnecessary, gums, oils, fillers and high sugar. We wanted to provide consumers with the cleanest, creamiest, and most nutritious plant-based creamers for coffee,” said Elmhurst Senior Director of Brand Innovation Heba Mahmoud. “Consumers have long enjoyed using our buttery cashewmilk in their coffee, so expanding on our existing Oat Creamer collection with this new Cashew Creamer line was a natural fit.”
