Hilmar Ingredients used the 2014 IFT Show to sample a savory protein bar for men. It developed a BBQ Crunch Bar fortified with Hilmar 8200 Whey Protein Concentrate, Hilmar 8370 Whey Protein Hydrolysate and Hilmar 9000 Whey Protein Isolate. The bar prototype was lower in carbs, saturated fats and sodium than traditional snacks, such as BBQ chips or crackers. Meanwhile, it delivered 9g of protein to satisfy hunger and/or aid muscle repair. Moreover, it featured whey protein, a complete protein with the highest contribution of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). Whey proteins also help modify bar texture and keep the product pliable.
