For its part, Prepared Foods believes new product development is a team sport and PF's 16th annual "Spirit of Innovation" (SOI) awards honor those food and beverage manufacturer teams collaborating and creating distinct new products that stand out in their respective markets.

The medal is named in honor of the 18th century French chemist, Antoine Laurent Lavoisier, who is considered the father of modern chemistry and served as mentor to DuPont’s founder, Eleuthère Irénée du Pont.

This trend is most evident in PLMA’s 2018 Salute to Excellence Awards program, where more than 500 new store brands food and nonfood products were evaluated by panels of industry professionals and consumers. Judges selected 53 products, 38 food and 15 nonfood items, for Salute to Excellence Awards.

Briess received the recognition for its Seed to Specialty sustainability program which focuses on the environment, communities and people from seed to finished product.

For more than 25 years McCormick has played roles ranging from sales to development in the fragrance industry. 

The Honey Beer Competition was judged by 20 certified judges from the Beer Judge Certification.
