Big Chewy NERDS received the Most Innovative New Product Award in the non-chocolate category at the National Confectioners Association’s (NCA) 2018 Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago.

Spread the news. Brooklyn Delhi, Brookyn, N.Y., learned that two of its spreads earned 2018 Food and Beverage (FABI) awards from the National Restaurant Association (NRA).

Each year, the ADS Technical Service Award is given to an individual who has demonstrated dedicated service to the ADS technical programs. Nominations for this award are taken from the general ADS membership and then voted on by ADS’ Executive Technical Board, the group that oversees the Association’s technical activities. At the Technical Meeting, members share their expertise on a variety of industry-specific topics including packaging, food safety, emulsions and quality.

The National Restaurant Association announced the recipients of the 2018 Food and Beverage (FABI) Awards, recognizing food and beverage products that stand out for taste, creativity and profit potential and will make a substantial impact in the restaurant industry.

Naked Oats is the common name for cultivars of hull-less oats; however, these oats are anything but common! During harvest, these oats thresh free of their hulls eliminating the 30% yield loss associated with traditional oats. This allows for greater returns to Bay State Milling’s  growers—while it eliminates the energy-intensive steps of hulling and kilning (meaning, no heat or steam are needed).

Chicken of the Sea beat three other finalists to win the Award, which was determined by a panel of seafood experts on the basis of uniqueness and appropriateness to the market, taste, packaging, market potential, convenience, nutritional value and originality.

NEXTY winners are determined in a two-round judging process that is completed in the Boulder-based New Hope Network office in the weeks prior to Expo West & Engredea. All nominated products are considered and judges give a special nod to those that display the qualities of Innovation, Inspiration and Integrity.

Like so many competing food and beverage companies displayed on shelf, you have national athletic teams on display at the opening “parade of nations” and in team competitions such as ice hockey. Then think about how your company has individual experts skilled in marketing, consumer insights, culinary arts, food science and package design and engineering. So too, the US Olympic team has specialists in ice skating, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, luge, snowboarding and, everyone’s favorite: curling.
