ZBiotics Sugar-to-Fiber Probiotic Drink Mix

Genetically engineered probiotic purports to address critical gaps in the American diet

October 12, 2024

ZBiotics, a biotechnology company developing purpose-built genetically engineered probiotics, announced the launch of Sugar-to-Fiber Probiotic Drink Mix. Developed by its team of PhD microbiologists, Sugar-to-Fiber is a genetically engineered probiotic specifically designed to address deficiencies in the American diet by converting dietary sugar (sucrose) into a special type of prebiotic fiber (levan) continuously throughout the day.

Sugar-to-Fiber addresses the daily challenge that stems from ultra-processed Western diets: significant fiber insufficiency. This groundbreaking innovation also cements the company’s foothold as a pioneer in health and nutrition, elevating our understanding of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and the transformative role they can play in daily life.

An estimated 95% of Americans fail to meet the daily fiber intake recommendation of 25 to 35g (instead averaging only 15g), and the average American diet does not support a healthy gut microbiome. Though 46% of Americans have taken over-the-counter digestive products and 41% have taken probiotics, available options on the market fail to address several key components that go beyond the quantity of fiber intake, including lack of sufficient fiber diversity, and slow-timed release mechanisms for fiber supplementation. With the help of genetic engineering, ZBiotics is bridging the gap in market offerings to provide a more comprehensive option for consumers.

The benefits of fiber and a healthier microbiome can include: Healthier bowel movements, Optimized nutrient use, enhanced immune function, improved digestion, improved gut-lining integrity, increased microbiome diversity and production of short-chain fatty acids, supporting a range of functions from immune to gastrointestinal health

ZBiotics remains committed to scientific rigor and its mission to deliver impactful solutions that meet the evolving needs of health-conscious consumers. It continues to engineer microbes to activate specific functions within the body with the ultimate goal of helping the modern consumer solve modern problems and lead healthier and richer lives.

Sugar-to-Fiber is ZBiotics’ second product joining its flagship Pre-Alcohol Probiotic Drink, genetically engineered to target and break down an unwanted byproduct of alcohol
